Renewable Water Resources

Water Quality Laboratory

This new laboratory facility replaces an aging existing building that houses a water quality testing program that renews approximately 42 million gallons of wastewater per day. Analytical laboratories designed to meet current biocontainment standards for BSL2 include:

  • Open analytical testing lab, including TKN-TP testing, solids and a flex lab
  • Specialty laboratories such as microbiology and metals
  • Shared laboratory support

The 9,000 sf of modern lab spaces support collaboration and encourage cross-disciplinary interactions through a blend of open labs, specialized labs and shared bench spaces. Other program space includes sample receiving and accessioning, office, administration and amenities. The labs and support spaces are flexible and adaptable to accommodate evolving regulations and technologies.

The large testing lab is located at the core of the facility to facilitate operational flows within the building while providing security for the testing. Office space for laboratory scientists are located outside the lab environment but connected visually for safety.
