John Burroughs School
S.T.A.R. Building
This three-story 76,500-square foot new science, technology and research building (S.T.A.R.) for middle and high school students will replace John Burroughs’ existing library and science building. The building focuses on laboratory space, but also includes a library, meeting rooms, offices, classrooms and an auditorium.
HERA programmed and planned the laboratories in the project, many of which also function as classrooms and therefore required careful design to meet both uses. Lab and prep spaces in the project include: chemistry, biology, physics, a green house, middle school wet and dry labs, neuro-science and biodiesel space.
