The new 54,000-sf, $40.5 million NASA Glenn Research Center Aerospace Communications Facility was recently featured in Architectural Record as a highly sustainable, envelope-pushing project. The building is driven by its function and the need to be carbon- and energy-efficient, and is net zero-ready.
In addition, it takes the concept of science on display to a new level. The precast concrete walls are etched with mathematical equations, which reduces the wall’s scale while also signaling the building’s function. The graphic wraps into a glassy two-story lobby.
